Gillyweed adalah tanaman ajaib asli Mediterania dan menyerupai setumpuk ekor tikus berlendir berwarna abu-abu kehijauan.
Ketika Gilyweed dimakan, leher penyihir tersebut akan tumbuh sepasang insang yang dapat membantu kita bernafas di dalam air dan selaput diantara jari-jari tangan dan kaki yang memudahkan untuk berenang.
Gillyweed susah dikunyah dan rasanya seperti karet, begitu pula teksturnya. Gillyweed hanya memberi durasi 1 jam didalam air.
Gillyweed pertama kali ditemukan oleh Elladora Ketteridge. Tetapi satu abad kemudian Gillyweed kembali ditemukan oleh Beaumont Marjoribanks.
Gillyweed juga dapat digunakan sebagai bahan minuman yang disebut Gillywater.
Gillywater dan Gillyweed berbeda. Kalau Gillywater ini sudah diolah dan dicampur dengan air dan semacamnya, nah Gillywater dijual di Three Broomstick. Jika ingin berubah atau memiliki insang, coba tanaman Gillyweed.
