TAYLOR SWIFT DOES A FREE COMEBACK SHOW IN THE MIDDLE OF TIMES SQUARE, NYC

Taylor Swift has been out of the limelight for over a year now, following the release of ‘Eden’, which gave her another #1 hit. However, her surprise appearance on Z100 confirms that she has been cooking up some interesting stuff in the recording studio while being on hiatus. She talked about how therapeutic creating music has been for her and she has constantly been working on new music. This means that new music might be coming soon enough. Earlier today, Taylor announced on Twitter that she will be doing a free show in the middle of Times Square. With over thousands of people visiting this iconic public venue everyday, this will definitely continue to hype up Taylor’s comeback soon enough.

Only being accompanied by a few backing vocalists and a pianist on the stage, it seems like the free show Taylor is conducting is focused more on a stripped back type of show. The first song that she performed was ‘Mine’, a song that was taken from her Speak Now album. Sporting her acoustic guitar, Taylor began to sing the words of the song while she was accompanied by the backing vocalists during the chorus of the song. Her vocals throughout this performance was slightly restrained, but still powerful enough to resonate with listeners out there listening. At the end of the first performance, some people have started gathering near the stage to witness Taylor performing some of her well known hits, as well as famous album cuts. The second song that she performed was ‘Enchanted’, another song off the Speak Now album. Despite not being made as a single, the song is one of the most memorable songs off the album due to its intricate lyrics and strong melody. Using her acoustic guitar once again, she began to sing this lyrically emotional song. Her vocals in this performance was raw and Taylor purposely does some vocal cracks here and there to amplify the emotions within the already emotional song. Soon after, she took her time and talked to the audience that had stopped by to watch her performances. She also thanked everyone for being here before going on to introduce ‘New Romantics’, a critically acclaimed song off the deluxe edition of 1989. Instead of using her acoustic guitar, Taylor stood up and walked across the stage as she performed this quality, uptempo song. She followed the set with ‘Red’ and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, songs that was successful on the US singles charts when they were released. While she did the original version of ‘Red’, Taylor performed a stripped down version of ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, which proved to be interesting because it showed a vulnerable side of the song.

After those two songs, Taylor went on and performed ‘Style’, an iconic song off the 1989 album. Standing in the middle of the stage, Taylor stood and gave a sensual pose as the iconic guitar riff echoed in the background. Taylor held her microphone towards her mouth as she sang the first few lines of the song. The shuddering vocals will definitely leave chills on the audience’s spine. She walked towards the edge of the stage before she whisper sings the pre-chorus of the song, making the attendees cheer for her. During the chorus of the song, Taylor encouraged the audience to sing along with her as she belted the words of the song. During the bridge of the song, Taylor belted the words, “Take Me Home!” in a clear, resonant voice. This part of the performance definitely left the audiences shook as some were seen opening their mouth in surprise. This was definitely one of the standout performances from her set and definitely her best performance vocally thus far. She went on to perform ‘The Coast’, before moving on with her #1 hit ‘Eden’. The final performance of ‘Eden’ was another standout performance, both visually and vocally. Accompanied by the entire band, Taylor walked to the left side of the stage as she sang the verses of the song. Her vocals were slightly fragile, but it was intentional to create a strong emotional atmosphere for the performance itself. She fixes her hair which is slightly messy at this point due to the various intense performances she did before this, before she transition into the chorus of the song. A kids choir emerged during the final chorus of the song, providing youth and fun towards the set itself. Taylor’s vocals were restrained, but emotional and showcased strength at the same time.

The performance for ‘Eden’ ended the free show on a high note. She thanked everyone who have attended and also to those that just stopped by to watch her perform live in the middle of Times Square. With all these memorable performances from a free show in Times Square, the hype for Taylor's forthcoming music will have definitely increased due to the solid performances given by Taylor herself.
