Muggle merupakan sebutan untuk orang-orang biasa yang tidak memiliki kemampuan sihir dan tidak terlahir ataupun berhubungan dengan dunia sihir sama sekali.
Half blood atau darah campuran : Sebutan untuk seorang Muggle yang menikah dengan seorang penyihir. Contohnya adalah Lord Voldemort.
Pure blood atau darah murni : sebutan untuk penyihir yang lahir dari kedua orangtuanya yang seorang penyihir. Contoh : Ron Weasley
Mud-blood atau darah lumpur : sebutan untuk para penyihir yang kedua orangtuanya bukanlah penyihir. Tetapi istilah ini sudah tidak dipakai karena dianggap kasar, sekarang sebutannya menjadi ‘Muggle Born’. Contoh : Hermione Granger.
Perbedaan dan Persamaan muggle dengan penyihir
Perbedaan
- Muggle tidak punya kemampuan sihir, sedangkan Penyihir punya.
- Muggle tidak bisa melihat hal-hal gaib di sekitar mereka (hal yang berkaitan dengan sihir, misal: satwa gaib).
- Jika Muggle merapalkan mantra maka tidak ada pengaruh, sedangkan Penyihir ada.
- penyihir cenderung beraktifitas dengan sihir atau mengucapkan mantra sedangkan muggle menggunakan tenaga atau teknologi yang mereka ciptakan
- kegiatan rekreasi penyihir berbeda dengan muggle contohnya quidditch yang cenderung dilakukan dengan sihir.
Persamaan :
- penyihir dan muggle adalah sesama manusia
- sama-sama memiliki akal dan pemikiran
- serta penyihir dan muggle sama-sama hidup dipermukaan bumi.
