Does fertilizer affect the growth of plants?

Fertilizer affects the growth and the health of plants. However, too much fertilizer can be just as bad as not enough. Fertilizer is a combination of three basic materials, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Nitrogen assists plants in processing carbohydrates to build new tissue. Phosphorus helps the plant with photosynthesis. Potassium controls the absorption of moisture in the plant. I think that plants with fertilizer will grow to be taller than plants without fertilizer.

The control group in this experiment does not have fertilizer. The experimental group does have fertilizer.

The constants in this experiment are the temperature, amount of water, amount of soil in each cup, the amount of sunlight, and the size cup that the plants were in.
The Independent variable is what we were in control of, in this case, the plants that had fertilizer. The dependent variable is what is changed because of the independent variable, in this case, the plant growth.

My conclusion is that in this particular experiment, my hypothesis was incorrect. This is probably because too much fertilizer was used in the plants in the experimental group.

Our experiment could have been improved by using less fertilizer in the experimental group.

Our experiment could have been flawed. The beans could've been defective, and we didn't put the plants by the window, which could have effected the growth.

We could do our experiment over again with a different amount of fertilizer and see if the results differed.
