-choose a fact from your textbook about people in that age-group. This fact must be a correct fact that is based on developmental research. Your fact should illustrate something that you believe is important for people in that age-group or their parents/teachers/caregivers etc. to know about
-Consider why this is an important fact for your target audience to know. ****How does this fact relate to at least one other aspect of the physical, cognitive, or social development of people from this age-group? ****Think about two reasons why you chose this fact over all the other facts related to this part of the lifespan. Why is it is this fact important or interesting to you? ****** Imagine that a person who has never taken this course sees your PSA. How might seeing your PSA impact this person’s life?
-choose an image (photograph) to illustrate your chosen fact. Be sure to note the source of this image. If you find it on the Internet, be sure to save the URL so that you can include it in your paper.
-combine a paraphrase of your fact and image to create a PSA for a magazine. All PSAs need to include a paraphrase of the fact from the textbook. Do not quote the textbook on your PSA: you will do this in the paper part of the Written Summary. Paraphrasing means that you convey the idea but you do not use the exact wording or sentence structure of the original quotation, which would be plagiarism (see penalty for plagiarism). Think about how you would explain a fact from this class to one of your friends: it should be in plain language.
