The article notes the limitations of written communication between learner and teacher. The article suggests that the learner should interact with the world to give meaning to the subject being taught. Teachers should become responsive to the learner's needs. Video can portray information using words, pictures and events, but does not allow the learner to express their own ideas. The article explores the concept of exploratory learning, so that learners research and find their own way in learning. The article contents that perhaps that learners would not achieve objectives with complete self directed learning, depending on their age group.
They study was based on learners completing activities that have an essence of multimedia and instruction from teachers. Ultimately the study found that student centred approaches can help learners process information better, but still need traditional objectives, structure and instruction.
