1. Sweatshops often have poor working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers.
2. In developing countries, an estimated 168 million children ages 5 to 14 are forced to work.
3. Defined by the US Department of Labor as a factory that violates 2 or more labor laws.
4. People who are forced to work must spend the majority of their paycheck on food for their families to survive.

- not too many choices
- safer environment to work in than ____
- better than outdoor jobs and heat/cold and is indoors
7. they are mostly in the third world countries
8. Why do they do it?....
- best option and job they can get
- may not have training/education for better jobs
- may not have an idea what other jobs are better and will not fight for improvement
- don't speak up for better pay because they might lose the job they have
- lack of people advocating against the conditions and the workers don't understand this
