A boy gets on a plane out of America and, with only a few thousand dollars and a student visa, embarks on a trip to England to become and artist.
A girl walks into his studio, and he is smitten by her. He tries to talk to her, but she has to leave. A switch to her perspective, where she is shocked by a handsome young American running the shop, but she is late for the wedding already and god why can’t she have time. She leaves her number with him, and heads to the wedding.
He leaves, dejected, and doesn’t see her number. He’s all bummed out, and decides to go drinking. He gets back to his studio late at night, and sees her number. He calls during the wedding party, and she’s repulsed by his drunken state.
Her perspective: she shouldn’t have left her number. God, men are such pigs. She should have known that after going to her ex’s wedding today. Who invites someone like that?
The next morning, he calls her back. He has the intense feeling that he’s made a fool of himself. She answers, and they eventually make a date.
She reluctantly decides to go on a date because he really was talented and she needs to get her mind off of the wedding and it really would be fun
After the date, they’re walking home and having a good time, and since he doesn’t have a car, they take the tube home. She says she had fun, and they agree they should see each other again.
His art begins to falter, and he’s too scared to call. Eventually he doesn’t have the money to pay for a phone, so when she calls the next week, it’s disconnected.
She goes out to the club, and she meets a new guy. They have sex, but the next morning, she is disgusted and goes home. She calls him, but his phone is disconnected. God, was the fight that bad? She goes down to his studio. They make up, and they go on another date.
That’s as far as I got! The points made overall will be his choices between her and art, his issues with adjusting to a new country, and their miscommunication. It’ll be a book, ish, but with quite a lot of mixed media illustration. It’ll be hard to categorize, but it’ll sell well in bookstores so what does that mean?
