You are walking down the street. People and stores and life are buzzing all around you. But with earbuds playing soft rock loudly, you notice nothing. And then, out of the blue, a strong scent hits you. It's smells like a bakery. You've seen loads of bakeries before, and they were boringly normal. But this is different. You can't quite put your finger on it. Feeling adventurous, you follow it. The door creaks a bit as you open it. The place is small and quiet. The pastries are one-of-a-kind.
"May I help you?"
You spin around, air leaving your lungs.
The boy speaking is blonde, blue eyed, and short. Ridiculously short.
His white apron is an artist's; covered in flour, some spots wet, and colored. Probably from cake icing.
"Uhm" the only thing you can do is stare at him.
He smiles and offers his arm. "They call me Bread Boy."
You shake his hand. It is strong and safe and warm and muscular. You introduce yourself.
"Lovely name," he responds. "So what brings you here on such a nice day?"
"Oh, I was walking down the street, and the smell was so strong and good I had to come and see for myself."
"Thank you. The cakes are my specialties"
"They're beautiful." you supply.
It is obvious you are attracted to him, but not wanting to seem to pushy nor obsessed, you head out the door.
"Goodbye, Bread Boy." Your voice sounds somewhat sad.
"I hope to see you soon," Can anyone's eyes be so warm and kind and inviting?
As you walk out the door to the fresh air, you can't stop wondering. What does he think of you? Was it love at first sight for him as much as it was for you?
You don't even know his name.
