Voluntary Euthanasia denies the patient the right to proper closure with their family, the final stage of growth where the patient will look over their lives, and voluntary euthanasia has been a stepping stone towards involuntary euthanasia throughout history. Patients who are suffering through a terminal illness are unfit to determine what the proper course of treatment is. If the decision to voluntarily euthanize patients becomes real, it will slow down our progress through the medical field, because many treatments for these terminal diseases come from voluntary testing on people who are ill. Over 3000 years ago, the moral code for healers, doctors, and surgeons in general has always been towards preserving the human life until death, and voluntary euthanasia goes against all of those moral codes. Legalizing voluntary euthanasia sidesteps all modern ethical codes, it goes against our nature as a human race, and it will lead us down a road we do not want to go down, the road to involuntary euthanasia.
