Features of a good facial recognition system:
• Good detection: the system must correctly detect the features in the image sample. Failure to do so may result in false positive (wrong detection) of feature.
• Good localization: the system must accurately detect the area of the features in the sample. Failure to do so may result in ambiguity for the facial recognition system.
• Good extraction of features: the system must correctly extract the needed features from the sample. Doing so can greatly increase the accuracy of the system as a whole.
• Good comparison algorithm: the system must accurately compare the sample with the template stored in the system. The algorithm must be efficient in terms of processing. Because some facial recognition systems are embedded within low processing systems such as: Cameras.
• Time efficiency: the system must operate at a fast rate, because facial recognition systems may be used to allow access to a phone for instance. This must be done quickly to allow for a seamless experience for the user.

Applications of facial recognition systems:
1. Payments
With the increase in popularity of mobile phone payments, businesses try to make payments as easy as possible. So facial recognition systems were created to authenticate the user.
2. Access and security
As briefly mentioned above, mobile phones are used in facial recognition. An example of this is the new iPhone X that allows users to unlock there device using facial recognition. This ensures access-control and security.
3. Criminal identification
Many cameras are used to identify faces of criminals, some of these cameras work real-time, meaning they detect criminals within a fraction of a second. Some camera processes the images after being prompted by the appropriate authority.
4. Healthcare
Hospitals nowadays use facial recognition systems to identify patients and access their medical history. Also some facial recognition systems are used to find symptoms of some diseases that appear on the face of a patient.

What is facial recognition system?
Face recognition technology is the fastest biometric technology. It works with the most obvious individual identifier – the human face.
Instead of requiring people to place their finger or hand on a reader which may transfer illnesses or diseases, or precisely position their eye in front of a scanner which may cause other health issues, face recognition systems are the most simple and safe way of identifying a person it simply takes pictures of people's faces. There is no intrusion or delay, and in most cases the subjects are entirely unaware of the process. They do not feel "under surveillance" or that their privacy has been invaded.
