So I am reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the first time and I have come upon this very important passage that I’ve never heard people mention, said by Hagrid:
“There’s some who’d always hold it against yeh … there’s some who’d even pretend they just had big bones rather than stand up an’ say — I am what I am, an’ I’m not ashamed. ‘Never be ashamed,’ my ol’ dad used ter say, 'there’s some who’ll hold it against you, but they’re not worth botherin’ with.’ An’ he was right. I’ve bin an idiot. I’m not botherin’ with her no more, I promise yeh that. Big bones … I’ll give her big bones.”
I think people need to recognize this more often. The message in this passage is so powerful. People need to accept who they are and not be ashamed, hiding away from their true self. Who bloody cares if some people don’t accept you. Let this be part of your true self, to accept things about you that are considered different. Let people assume and judge because it doesn’t matter at all, let this be you, do and be whatever YOU believe is making you happy.
