Dear Mrs Stiefvater,

Recently I finished reading your novel “Shiver” from the series “The wolves of Mercy Falls”. First of all I would like to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed your book. I have a few suggestions for the sequel that I hope you take into consideration.

Your writing style is really enjoyable to read, you put a lot of detail into the the necessary parts. One of my favourite parts of the book is how you changed the point of view every chapter. Personally I thought the chapters from Sam’s point of view in Grace’s bed in the morning were some of the most valuable chapters. They showed how their relationship was building and how he cared for her so much. It was sweet and showed us early on that Sam was more than just a beast. That seemed very important to build the characters and I was happy that you did that.

Even though I really enjoyed the book overall one of the things that disappointed me was Sam’s turning at the end of the book. He was my favourite character and he meant so much to Grace. When he turned for the last time my heart dropped. The way you wrote it every reader could feel Grace’s emotions. I just wish and hope that you could maybe bring him back for the sequel. He is one of the main characters but also Grace’s love interest. I think it would be a bit of an upset for everyone if he doesn’t come back for the sequel. Also another thing I would like to know more about in the next book is about young Sam with Beck. A little bit on their past would nice so we could know what happened when they split up. Just knowing more about Sam’s past would be great. He never really talked about his parents and I would just like to know more about them. They were a big part of sam’s life and I feel like that would be something more readers would like to know about. No matter what happens in the next book I will finish the series because of how much I enjoyed the first book.

Please know that all of these comments are not to reflect on you badly. I am just trying to give you a reader’s perspective on your book. I really enjoyed your book as I have previously stated. I wish you luck with writing your next book and I hope it is just as good as the first one.

Sincerely,

Kaylee Whitford
