They were also in different shape, size, weight, metal purity and the inscriptions on them. The system includes that peasants depended on their land and of that their masters to obtain a living. The manorial system's basic element was controlled by the lord; the lord had the right to control peasants through serfdom and enjoyed land rights.

The most likely job to have in the Middle Ages were peasant farmers who would work in the manors of their lords. The farmers also held the responsibilities of sheep, as the women were in charge of shearing the sheep and making goods out of the wool. Artisans were another job in the Middle Ages, They'd produce raw materials made from glass, wood, iron and clay. Artisans includes Shoemakers, Weavers, Masons, Tailors, Blacksmiths and carpenters. There were also common jobs like Bakers, Millers, Beer brewers and vintners. Because of this, Trading increased - resulting merchants to become very important. There were also important professionals such as Dentists, Barbers, teachers and surgeons. Later on, Merchants formed powerful guilds.
