In a group project, you wouldn't have the right to ask your friend to chip in during a discussion.
You wouldn't be able to encourage your friend who is feeling down: for even though you may believe in the axiom that all people are valuable, but you wouldn't be "qualified" to enforce this axiom on your friend.
The question of whether universal values exist is a non-issue: and these are just examples of the consequences if such a set of values were absent.

The asking of the question seems to insinuate that we have this air of superiority over the children: but in actual fact that isn't true. One can assess another's values from a critical, objective point of view and conclude that some are lacking, without having a sense of superiority over the other. Values need not always be fluid and ambiguous.
