School Buses
For decades now school buses have been used all over America but have never been considered as any use to the British government whereas in fact I believe they would be of great benefit to the country for the following reasons.
There are many economic advantages that accompany having school buses such as the expenses saved on gas money, which allows parents to utilise the money for other expenditures . In addition to that it offers job opportunities for drivers and conductors.
Theres also the environmental advantages, loads of vehicles are being exchanged for a few buses which cuts back on the amount of car exhaust being emitted into the air preventing. Therefore using school buses can help keep our air clean and the roads less clustered preventing traffic and possible road collisions.
Moreover school buses instil qualities in children like being more organised, time efficient and responsible. Riding a bus requires having to always have a certain route and schedule to follow, which takes effect on the child as it gives them a deadline to get ready in the morning with the consequence of having to miss the bus and walk.
However it comes with a few disadvantages which is probably the reason school buses haven’t been introduced yet. School buses generally take more time to get students to and from school than it would take parents to drive them this is due to the reason that the buses have to run their entire route rather than just driving from point A to point B. School buses also involve many students having to walk some distance to their school bus stops before they can be picked up by the bus.
On top of this they have a specific schedule they need to adhere to, buses don’t wait for students or else it would corrupt the flow and in return other students would have their times changed, therefore if a child fails to turn up at the bus stop at the correct time the bus leaves them behind. Wheres when a student manages to find their own way to school their time is flexible.
There have been repeated incidents and occasions where the students on the buses have been victims of bullying, engaged in fighting or have even been injured by their peers on buses. There is a matter of reasons behind this one of them is the lack of actual authority on the bus, usually the only adult figure on a bus is the driver, and they’re unable to supervise the children and focus on driving the actual bus at the same time, moreover students wont take them seriously if they did attempt to call off a fight or prevent something from happening because of their lack of ‘status’.
In conclusion I thoroughly believe that schools would greatly prosper with the aid of school buses and that for this reason they should be presented in London and in fact all over the world. School buses are saviours for overpopulation on the streets and economic crisis’s, with only a few obstacles to overcome we would profit from it greatly.
