Not everyone is meant to be great, but everyone is meant to make a difference. The world is what it is, because each and every one of us are on it. A while back I decided I wanted to make music, and I was just terrible at it. I went to one of my favorite musicians and just said "Man, how do I do what you do? It just doesn't come to me, how do I make it work?" and he told me that ,to be honest, he really had no clue. I pressed the matter and finally he told me that I should look at my favorite artists, and try to emulate them. It took me a while but I realized that was possibly the worst and best piece of advice he could have given me. I can emulate anyone, and I can make good music doing it. Sure I might become famous doing it, but that isn't what music is supposed to be about. In order to make something you'll truly be proud of, you need to take a step back and forget everything you know about the subject, and then just wait for the lightning to strike. You set up your wood and kindling, and you just wait for the spark. Don't try to steal someone else's flame to light your fire, copy them by making the fire, but do it your own way, with your own spark. Step back and think about all the people you look up to, take all of their goals and put them at the end of a maze, but instead of trying to copy every twist and turn they take, find your own, you'll end up at the same place.
