Alohomora ― dibaca “ al-LOH-ha-MOR-ah ” bisa digunakan untuk membuka dan menutup pintu yang terkunci, mantra ini juga dapat digunakan untuk Membuka pintu atau jendela yang terkunci oleh mantra Colloportus / The Locking Spell. Mantra ini diciptakan oleh penyihir afrika kuno dan pertama kali dibawa ke Inggris oleh Eldon Elsrickle pada tahun 1600an. Alohomora berasal dari dialek Sidiki Afrika Barat yang digunakan dalam geomancy(bentuk-bentuk ramalan nasib) yang berarti 'menguntungkan bagi pencuri.'
Cara melakulan mantra ini adalah ketukkan wand ke pintu yang terkunci atau tujukan langsung ke pintu yg terkunci sebanyak tiga kali. Warna yg muncul dari wand biasanya biru/kuning/tidak terlihat.
