Sebelum melakukan purification, hal-hal yang perlu dipersiapkan :
1. Pembersihan, persiapan; mulai dari menyapa sampai mencuci.
2. Doa untuk para dewa melalui kata-kata indah yang nyaring dan berkomunikasi dengan tulus
3. Persembahan.
Saat melakukan purification :
1. Harae
Pencucian secara simbolik menggunakan air, atau meminta seorang pendeta Shinto menggoyangkan sebuah tongkat dengan kertas atau haraigushi pada objek purification.
2. Oharae
Ritual khusus untuk membersihkan sekelompok besar orang. Ritual tersebut dilakukan pada akhir Juni dan Desember di Istana kekaisaran atau di tempat-tempat lain juga.
3. Shubatsu
Ritual purification dimana garam dipercikan pada pendeta atau pemuja. Bisa juga pada tanah untuk menyucikannya.
4. Misogi
Ritual purification menggunakan air untuk membebaskan tubuh dari pikiran dan dosa pencemaran.
4. Akuryo Taisan adalah sebuah seruan mantra yang dilafalkan untuk menghalau dan mengusir roh jahat. Sambil berseru 'Akuryo taisan!' dengan tegas dan jelas harus disertai dengan menempalkan kertas Ofuda pada objek tersebut.
5. Melakukan sembilan kuji. Karena dijamin ampuh untuk membuat roh kesakitan sampai pergi. Kalau masih belum berhasil saya akan menghubungi pendeta shinto :( karena mereka yang paling tahu soal doa-doa dalam hal ini.
