"Pohon Darah Naga"
- Nama lain pohon ini adalah Dracaena cinnabari atau Suji Socotra, atau Dragon Blood Tree. Dapat ditemukan di daerah kepulauan Socotra dan sekitarnya, yang termasuk daratan Yaman, dan merupakan sisa dari hutan sub-tropis yang mati jutaan tahun lalu di Zaman Pliosen.
- Yang mempunyai minat untuk mendeskirpsikan tumbuhan ini pertama kali, ada Isaac Bayley Balfour, tahun 1882. Namun, tidak seperti biasanya, tidak ada nama penemu yang dijadikan alias tumbuhan ini.
- Tekstur daun ini justru keras. Dan jika ditempatkan di pohon, maka mereka akan membentuk formasi rapi. Makanya berbentuk seperti payung. Pohon ini memiliki buah yang biasa dikonsumsi oleh burung-burung. Hal yang paling menarik dari pohon ini adalah di getah/resin yang berwarna merah, itu sebabnya dinamakan pohon darah naga. Oleh penduduk sekitar, getah merah ini digunakan sebagai odol, perekat dan lain sebagainya. Secara ilmiah sejak abad awal masehi, getah pohon ini bermanfaat sebagai obat bermacam penyakit seperti pewarna, obat pernapasan, demam, diare, disentri, masalah usus, dsb.
- Batang pohon ini berfungsi juga sebagai sarana bertahan hidup pohon ini.
