Title:
A Bean's Percolation Rate With Different Liquids

Objective:
The objective of this experiment is to find out the percolation rate of a bean, with no liquid/different liquids. After the experiment is completed, we will be able to see what liquid the bean best grows in out of the selected liquids for the experiment.

Hypothesis:
The researcher thinks that the beans that sit in mountain Dew will have the best percolation rate. If Mountain Dew is the best liquid out of the selected liquids that will help the bean to grow, then we should see a better growth rate from the beans in the Mountain Dew compared to the other liquids/dry beans.

Materials:
-1 petri dish with a divider in middle and lid
-10 beans of the same type
-Tools to make observations (microscope, scale, ruler, etc.)
-Different liquids to test, such as Mountain Dew, water, hot water, soap, etc. (enough of each to cover 2/3 of one side of the petri dish)
-1 Paper Towel
-1 baggy (snack size or bigger)

Procedure:
1. First, split the beans into two groups of five. One group will e getting tested with the liquids, and the other won't.
2. Make observations and place on graph labeled Day 1.
3. Place five beans on one side of the petri dish, and the other five on the other side.
4. Pour the liquid onto one side of the beans (if the liquid is hard to see, label that side).
5. Place lid on petri dish.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for 3 more days, putting each set of observations on a different graph, and waiting about 24 hours in between each observations period (watch out, it might be smelly!)
7. Place one wet seed and one dry seed in middle of paper towel. Dispose of the other seeds.
8. Fold paper towel to cover beans and put in baggy (make sure to squeeze air out of baggy, as it can affect the results).
9. Place in sunny-partly sunny area.
10. Until it is a plant, take the paper towel out of the baggy each day, take the seeds out, water the seeds a little, refold the paper towel to cover the seeds, and place back in baggy, again, not forgetting to squeeze air out of bag.
11. Repeat the experiment (the more results, the more accurate the data!)

Discussion/Conclusion:
During the process of the experiment, it is seen that the beans in the _____ liquid had the best percolation rate out of the chosen liquids. This could be due to _______ and/or _______. During the experiment, there could have been a couple mistakes:
-Insufficient light
-Unequal amounts of liquid added
-Un-proper handling of beans
-Liquids on dry beans, etc.
