Kepercayaan akan ilmu sihir dan para praktisinya juga mencuat kuat dalam sejarah Eropa di abad 14 sampai 18, dimana penggunaan ilmu sihir dianggap sebagai aksi pemberontakan terhadap agama Kristen.
