Penyihir yang dapat mentransformasikan dirinya menjadi hewan kapan saja dia mau disebut seorang animagus (animagi). Beberapa penyihir mampu mengubah diri menjadi sosok ini, namun hanya tujuh yang terdaftar di Kementrian Sihir.
1. Penyihir Yunani kuno bernama Falco Aesalon. Animagusnya berbentuk seekor falcon.
2. Circe, nama seorang penyihir wanita dari Yunani kuno dapat mengantarkan para pelaut tersesat dan mengubah mereka menjadi babi.
3. Ratu penyihir Morgan le Fey yang memiliki animagus dengan bentuk burung.
4. Mirabella Plunkett adalah penyihir malang yang jatuh cinta pada manusia duyung. Sayangnya, keluarga Mirabella tidak setuju. Karenanya, Mirabella memutuskan untuk merubah dirinya menjadi ikan. Sejak saat itu, sosoknya tidak pernah terlihat lagi.
5. Cliodna atau Cliodne yang memiliki animagi burung. Sosoknya yang berada pada kartu Cokelat Kodok.
6. Petter Pettigrew yang merupakan salah satu anggota Marauder dari Gryffindor memiliki wujud animagus berbentuk tikus kebun.
7. Sirius Black juga memiliki wujud animagus berbentuk Anjing Besar Griffin.
8. Ayah dari Harry Potter, James Potter, dapat berubah wujud menjadi Rusa Jantan.
9. Ritta Sketter dapat merubah dirinya menjadi kumbang yang antenanya berfungsi sebagai alat perekam.
10. Minerva McGonagall yang dapat merubah diri menjadi kucing yang manis dengan ciri berkacamata di pelipisnya.
