Belifs:
Vodun combines the Catholic belief of one god with the belief of spirits. Followers of Vodun believe that spirits are virtually everywhere; humans are spirits who live in the "visible" world, whereas "invisible" spirits (angels, ancestors) live in an unseen mythical land called Ginen. The strong belief and importance of spirits comes from the thought that they help people communicate with Bondye, or God.
Practices:
The main objective and goal of Vodun is to serve the spirits. Ways of serving and communicating with them include ceremonies with drums, dances, and special rituals; in return, you can receive health, protection, and certain favors. In addition, there are days and ritual feasts dedicated to saints and traditions; for instance, November 1 and 2 are designated for "All Saints' Day" and "All Souls' Day".
