The cycle of life is prevalent in terms of surviving on Earth with what we are given.
But arguably the value of one other's life should be treated morally and that to take it's life is immoral, which pertains to the animals put on Earth, and even plant matter all the same.
Counter-argument being: agriculture raised and grown under a farm that treats with humane living conditions, live a much better life than a life that they would inadvertently live otherwise. In turn, the life which was once preserved under tender caring, and a balanced ethical nature, would be used to preserve another life. And the cycle continues: as humans prosper, so do the animals and plants together, with all lives treated properly.
So eating meat is ethically sound in terms of prospering as a human race and as a life form on this planet altogether.
