Workers were cutting down a dead tree in the backyard of a Rio Vista home at about 2:30 p.m. when the 60-year-old from Union City walked into the yard, Alpine Police Capt. Michael LaViola said.
They yelled at Paik to go back, but the workers had cut almost completely through the tree and it gave way, LaViola said. Paramedics administered CPR all the way to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, but Paik was pronounced dead on arrival.
