Yaşadıkları evin ciddi bir yıkılma tehlikesi arzetmesinin ardından tiyatrocu Emad ve Rana , yeni bir ev aramaya başlar. O sıralarda Arthur Miller'ın Satıcının Ölümü oyununda başrol oynayan çift, sonunda tiyatrodaki bir başka oyuncunun önerdiği eve kiracı olarak yerleşmeyi kabul eder. Ev son derece güzeldir, ancak evin bir önceki kiracısının özel hayatıyla ilgili birçok dedikodu bulunmaktadır. Yerleşmelerinden kısa bir sonra, bir gece Rana yalnızken kimliği belirsiz bir kişi tarafından saldırıya uğrar. Rana olayı polise götürmek istemez, bunun üzerine Emad suçluyu kendi yöntemleriyle bulmaya karar verir.
Başrollerini, Shahab Hosseini ve Taraneh Alidoosti'nin paylaştığı filmin senaristliğini ve yönetmenlğini üstlenen Asghar Farhadi bunun yanı sıra yapımcılığıda devralıyor .Film, Cannes Film Festivali'nde En İyi Senaryo ve En İyi Erkek Oyuncu ödülünü kazanmasının yanında, İran'ın Oscar için adayı olarak seçildi.
