Psikopat secara harfiah berarti gangguan jiwa. Berasal dari kata psyche yang berarti jiwa dan pathos yang berarti penyakit.

Tindakannya cenderung bermusuhan, mudah marah, mudah menyerang orang lain, tidak mudah mengikuti aturan atau sering protes, bahkan sampai melakukan kekerasan. Memiliki sikap egois yang tinggi dan selalu menganggap dirinya hebat.
Gejala lainnya yang mungkin dimiliki oleh psikopat adalah senang melakukan pelanggaran, mengintimidasi, tidak jujur, dan kerap salah mengartikan kejadian sekitarnya.
Psikopat suka bertindak dengan spontan tanpa memikirkan perasaan pihak yang dirugikan sehingga dikenal sebagai orang yang tidak memiliki hati nurani.
