Properly inflated tires will help keep car from swerving or getting a blow out from premature wear or one side being under inflated. Sometimes when brakes fail people forget their hand or emergency brake. Knowing that the squealing noise your brake makes is deliberately designed into the car to let you know it is time to change the pads, but sometimes brakes can squeal if when they were repaired they weren't cleaned. Check your tire pressure frequently. Also the wear on your tires can indicate a mechanical problem. Wear on one side could indicate it is time for an alignment or replacement of a front end part. Wear on both sides could indicate under inflated tires and wear in the middle over inflated tires.

Proper maintenance of your vehicle is always a good safety practice. Any malfunctioning can cause an accident. something as simple as low oil may cause the vehicle to lock up or die. Keeping track of fluid levels like transmission, power steering and of course oil are all important. The power steering could go out and all of a sudden be too hard to turn the wheel. Equally you can not have good control of our car if your transmission fails.

knowing to occasionally check the rubber boots on your CV joints if you have front wheel drive. Knowing when to check a u joint can help too. One should never forget to check brake lights, turn signals and head lights.
