About one-half of people who smoke die from smoking related disease.

Smoking causes several types of cancer - among them lung, bladder, and throat cancers - and breathing problems like emphysema and chronic bronchitis. If you quit smoking, your children will be less likely to smoke.
Avoid criticizing or punishing yourself if you have weak moments. Research shows that beating yourself up doesn't usually help - it only makes you feel bad, which in turn, may make you want to reach for a cigarette even more. Cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals, many of which are cancer-causingncreased risk of stroke and brain damage.

Smoking causes skin discoloration, wrinkles, and premature aging. Your fingernails and the skin on your fingers may have yellow staining from holding cigarettes. Smokers usually develop yellow or brown stains on their teeth. Hair holds on to the smell of tobacco long after you put your cigarette out. It even clings to nonsmokers.
