De opleiding begint met de fitheidstest in deze test word je Fysiek getest in deze test zul je 30x Pushups,30x Situps,4x pull en 2700 meter hardlopen in 12 minuten(Minimale Eisen) na dit begint de MAST(Mariniers Selectie Test) Dit Duurt 48 uur en hierzo woord je getest op Conditie, resultaatgerichtheid, samenwerking, leervermogen en stressbestendigheid(Indien wil zien zoek video:JayJay versus de Marinier Selectietest) hierna begint het pas echt dan kun je jezelf gaan specializeren in een bepaalde taak zoals:
(Amfibicsche) bootbestuurder, vebindelaar ( Militaire ICT-Specialist) Voor special forces zijn dit de opleiding tot maritime special forces operator(algemeen) dan kan ook: Militaire Berggids,kikvorsman maar deze opleiding zijn niet vier elke marinier weggelegd. Als dit niet jou keuze is kan je ook een andere weg gaan richting officier dat is dan de VVO(voortgezette vakopleiding) voor Onderofficieren korporaals.. Om officier te worden moet de POTOM(Praktische-Opleiding to Officer der Mariniers) gehaald worden. Deze duurt 11 maanden. Aspirant-Officieren moeten bewijzen te beschikken over kwaliteiten zoals leiderschap,tactische vaardigheden/kennis.
