PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (Achieve3000, September 22, 2016). In 1944, an art center was set up in Haiti. It was named the Centre d'Art. The center's mission was to find and teach Haitian artists. It also wanted to promote their art.

The center did help artists. It showed their paintings and sculptures. The art was colorful. People around the world learned about this art. But in 2010, a strong earthquake took down the center. Later that year, the center's leader died.

Still, this wasn't the end for the center. A team is working to bring it back. New buildings were built. Now, classes are being offered. This has brought in dozens of students. The team is also working to document the center's past art. It's making a list of about 5,000 important pieces.
