Lyra (pronounce Leera) Swordsteel is a hill dwarf cleric (life domain). Her parents were traveling minstrels but Lyra never really knew them. Around the time her mother was pregnant the monarchy where they lived was tightening rules and creating lots of strict laws that made it increasingly hard for her parents to get enough money to even survive. They didn't want her growing up having to worry about where her next meal would be coming from or the threat of the guard so after she was born they tearfully dropped her off at a temple to Lliira- the goddess of joy who they worshiped. They left her with the name of Lyra- after the goddess of Lliira (pronounced lie-ra)- and nothing else but hopeful vibes. Despite all this Lyra enjoyed her childhood. The clerics at the temple were like one giant family to her and she has many great memories of the place, although she does wonder what became of her parents. When she turned 18 (in human years) she decided to go out into the world to have adventures and more importantly spread joy, just like her godly namesake would want. She has pretty loose morals, especially if the person is rich or powerful, but if someone is vulnerable, weak, or poor, she has a very difficult time not doing all she can to help them or doing anything bad to them. The circumstances surrounding her birth have given her a dislike of anyone who abuses their power or hurts those weaker than them. It's been one year since she left the temple and although she's still a bit naive and too trusting she's learned that the world isn't all sunshine and happiness; however none of that has diminished her determination to spread joy . She can be a little awkward around other dwarves because she had such a peculiar youth she doesn't relate to or particularly understand a lot of dwarven cultural norms. She carries an oversized warhammer on her back (the stats are the same I just like the imagery), which looks even larger because she's only 4ft. tall, and wears heavy chain mail- making her very bad at being sneaky or stealthy at all but that's nothing new since she's already a bit of a klutz. Her holy symbol is a sapphire necklace she keeps carefully tucked under her clothes at all time so no one tries to steal it.
