-xml มีการแยกส่วนของข้อมูลจากส่วนของการแสดงผล ถ้ามีการแก้ไขข้อมูล xml ก็จะไม่กระทบกับโปรแกรม
-เมื่อมีการแสดงผลเอกสาร xml บนเว็บ ผู้ใช้ทั่วไปสามารถนำข้อมูลในเอกสาร xml ไปปรับรูปแบบให้มีการแสดงผลในรูปแบบอื่นได้ง่า
-xml ถูกกำหนดให้เป็นมาตรฐานในการแลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลระหว่างองค์กรทางธุรกิจ
-xhtml ทุกเอกสารจะต้องมีการประกาศ DOCTYPE เป็นการเรียกใช้เอกสารที่มีนามสกุลเป็น .dtd
-xhtml ต้องมี tag html,head,body เสมอ
-tag titlr จะต้องอยู่ใน tag head
