-sensing and responding to changes in around enviroment (cold for example, put on coats)
-some cells cant reproduce or divide, some nerve cells can divide. MOST cells in body divide

-tissues: group of cells with similar structure and specialized function (muscles,nervous, epithelial, connective)
-muscle tissue: speicalized for contracting and generatinig force 3 types: skeletal muscles move skeleton, cardiac muscles pump blood out of heart smooth muscles encloses and control movements of contens through hollow tubes and organs ( U CANT control smooth muscles)
-nervous tissues: cells initiating and transmitting electriclal impulses (brain spial cord, nerves)
-epithelial tissues: cells exhange materials b/w cell and its enviroment ( have complex receptor). 2 types of structures epithelial sheets (skins, GI tract). secretory glands: many kinds. reproduce everyday (very frequent)
-radiation therapy kills dividing cells. that is why u feel nauseous
- exocrine gland: excrete to outside (epithelial)
- endocrine: excrete for inside (epithelial)
-organs: 2 or more types of primary tissues functions together to do 1 functions or functions (ex: stomach)
-system has more than 1 organ involved
-homeostasis: maintenance of a relative stable internal environment. does not mean never changes. ability of cell to regulate its internal conditions. using feedback systems
-acting in responses to changes in set point
