Broomstick yang akan digunakan harus sesuai dengan posisi Quidditch yang akan dipilih. Diantaranya Beater, Chaser, Keeper dan Seeker.
Tiap posisi dalam Quidditch ada berbagai jenis sapu yang sesuai dengan efek sapu yang berbeda-beda.
Untuk dapat terbang menggunakan sapu, ada beberapa cara yang harus dilakukan.
1. Berdiri tepat di samping sapu.
2. Katakan "Up". Saat sapu terbang naik, tangkap sapunya.
3. Cobalah untuk menunggangi sapu. Buat diri senyaman mungkin dan berpegangan erat pada sapu.
4. Hentakan kaki.
5. Coba untuk steady diatas sapu dan condongkan badan kedepan.
6. Sapu siap melesat.
Untuk command mengendalikan sapu hanya menggunakan kata "Up", "Down" dan "Stop".
Mengendalikan dan mengendarai sapu terbang memerlukan konsentrasi. Karena setiap broomstick bisa merespon pikiran ownernya.
