Strany budou moci čísla využít v kampani, ale především jimi budou označeny jejich hlasovací lístky. Voliči tak na prvním místě, až otevřou obálku, která jim přijde, spatří sociální demokracii.
Čísla také určí pořadí, ve kterém budou strany uvedeny na oficiálním volebním webu.
Mezi kandidujícími stranami s vylosovaným číslem se objevila i Československá strana socialistická, o níž se v době uzavírání kandidátek nevědělo - namísto ní figurovalo v médiích hnutí Volební principy prázdných a blokovaných židlí (mandátů).
To ale ministerstvo vnitra vůbec neregistruje, proto nedostalo vylosované číslo.
Český statistický úřad, který bude výsledky voleb z jednotlivých okrsků shromažďovat, volební čísla zkompletuje s kandidátkami stran v krajích. Poté bude možné začít s tiskem hlasovacích lístků.
