~CREATING SIMPLE TOOLS~
Stout Wooden Sticks
Can be used as levers, to pry and move heavy objects
But be sure to use something up to the task!
- A skinny stick will likely snap. Pressure treated lumber
works best.
A Wedge
is most helpful in a survival situation when used as an axe or hatchet
they can be used to split wood or dress captured prey.

~WHERE YOU BUILD YOUR FIRE~

Well ventilated
it is tempting to build inside a shelter, such as a cave or a hallow
log, but the smoke will quickly fill up your space. Build outdoors!

But Not to Well Ventilated!
Find a spot that is sheltered on all sides by the wind.
a gust of wind will scatter your tinder!

Dry
Look for a dry patch of ground. if you must clear snow
or leaves from the ground to create a fire ring, do so.

~FUEL FOR YOUR FIRE~

[ TINDER ]
- Twigs, dry grasses, or a birds nest can work well.
[KINDLING]
-Smaller branches
[LOGS]
-Larger branches

~CANT START A FIRE WITHOUT A SPARK~
No matches? use this instead.
[Flint]
-is a hard rock that gives off sparks when struck.
Flint is abundant around the world, an can be
identified by its glossy appearance.
[A Striker]
-is a steel object that, when struck against flint,
causes sparks. You may have long with non metallic
strikers, but steel is better.

~HOW TO BUILD YOUR FIRE~
Once you have found a place to light the fire and something
to do it with, follow these 5 steps.
1- Lay down the tinder
2- Use the flint and striker to create sparks
3- When the spark catches, blow on the
tinder to feed the flames. Long steady
breathes are the way to go.
4- Place dry kindling over the timber in a teepee
arrangement for proper aeration.
5- Last, Place the logs in a teepee arrangement.
