Divination itu adalah pelajaran sebuah ramalan yang akan datang dimasa depan. Dua ribu tahun yg lalu, Ilmu ini ditemukan. Hidup di dataran Babylonia, Mesir, Yunani. Ilmu ini awalnya berbasis pada sistem pertanian. Kapan cuaca akan cerah, apa yg akan terjadi di panen selanjutnya, dan lain lain. Mereka meramal dengan pergerakan bintang, planet, hujan, terik matahari.
Setelah perkembangannya Ilmu ini mulai berkembang ke seluruh dunia. Tiongkok salah satunya. Ramalan dasar Tiongkok adalah Ba Zi. Dalam perkembangannya, Ramalan ini berkembang menjadi banyak cabang.
Ada beberapa jenis jenis ramalan, beberapanya adalah: 1. Gastromancy; 2. Mastomancy; 3. Testomancy; 4. Vagtomancy.
Banyak jenis ramalan yang berakhiran dengan kata “-mancy”, berasal dari kata Yunani kuno Manceia (ramalan) atau berakhiran dengan kata “-copy”, berasal dari bahasa yunani “skopein” (melihat ke dalam).
Untuk sejarah tahunnya disini saya belum menemukan yang pasti karena setiap sumber berbeda beda.
