Langkah pertama kita angkakan tiap huruf sandi dg menggunakan tabel. Cara menuliskan angka dimulai dari kelompok angka, urutan angka horisontal/mendatar, lalu urutan vertikal/tegak lurus. Beda dg bifid yg diambil pertama kalau di bifid yaitu urutan vertikal.
Maka angka yg diperoleh tiap huruf adalah:
W=121
R=211
E=131
W=121
Q= 111
B= 233
D= 212
A= 122
...dst
Ingat angka pertama adalah kelompok, angka kedua adalah kolom mendatar, angka ketiga adalah kolom menurun.
Jika semua sudah dirubah jadi angka, proses pemecahan sandinya jumlah angka keseluruhan dibagi 3 lalu ditumpuk. Kemudian tulis angka dari kelompok paling atas ke bawah.
Hasilnya akan seperti ini:

Ambil huruf dari atas ke bawah, maka hasilnya adalah:
122= A
212= D
122= A
211= R
122= A
132= S

Jadi jika diselesaikan isi pesan dari sandi diatas adalah: ADA RASA MESRA SAAT KITA BERDUA.
Untuk sandi Trifid ini bisa juga menggunakan urutan abjad biasa ABCDEFGH...dst atau susunan yg lain sesuai kesepakatan.
