Κατά τη δεκαετία 1950 γίνεται η πληθυσμιακή έκρηξη , καθοριστικός παράγοντας της οποίας ήταν η κατάσταση που είχε δημιουργηθεί στην ύπαιθρο από τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο και τη φτώχια που μάστιζε πολλές περιοχές. Εγκαθίστανται στην Ελευσίνα , κάτοικοι που κατάγονταν από την Ήπειρο, τη Χίο , τα Δωδεκάνησα , την Κέρκυρα. Η παρουσία των Κρητικών χρονολογείται γύρω στις αρχές του 1960. Στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 1960 αρχίζει η εγκατάσταση των Ποντίων , ιδιαίτερα από τις χώρες της τότε Σοβιετικής Ένωσης.
Το 1962 ανακαλύφθηκε στην Ελευσίνα μία μεγάλη οικία ιερέων των χρόνων της ρωμαιοκρατίας
