Gunanya, Padfoot & Prongs (Sirius & James) yg cukup gede utk mengendalikan Remus (Moony) saat transformasi bulanannya jadi werewolf. Sedangkan wormtail cukup kecil dan gesit untuk melewati pertahanan Whomping Willow, mereka bisa sampai ke Shrieking Shack.
WW = suatu tanaman yang lumayan dapat menghambat perjalanan siapapun yang ingin lewat
Shrieking Shack = rumah yang sudah terbengkalai, jarang yang berani masuk kesana.
Karena sebulan sekali, Remus menyelundup keluar dari kastil, ke tempat ini, untuk bertransformasi. Pohon itu diletakkan di mulut terowongan untuk menghentikan siapa pun yang datang ke arahnya saat Remus Lupin bebahaya (menjadi serigala)
Selain itu, pada periode antara tahun kelima dan ketujuh, mereka menciptakan Peta Marauders, yang berupa gulungan perkamen kecil
