Los Angeles Rams -
The Los Angeles Rams come into this game with a 1-1 record, and they have looked like so far they could be a little better then most people expected.
In week one they dominated the short handed Indianapolis Colts on the way to a 46-9 victory. Jared Goff looked like he deserved to be taken with the number one pick, and everyone was very excited.
In week two they ended up losing to the Washington Redskins by a final score 27-20, but they still looked good, and Jared Goff looked good for the most part.
He did throw a pick though in their final possession that sealed the victory for the Redskins. He looked down one receiver the entire possession and it was an easy ball for the Redskins to pick off.
To win this game they need to be disciplined on offense and defense. The 49ers offense isn’t great and the Rams can’t make them look like they are.
On the offensive end Goff just needs to make the smart decisions. He can’t force things if they aren’t there and that is what has cost him in the past.

San Francisco 49ers -
On the other side of this match up is the San Francisco 49ers who have a lot of questions on the offensive end, but the defense has looked really good so far this year.
They come into this game having lost both of the first two games, and the main reason has been because the offense hasn’t been able to do much.
They come into this game having scored a total of 12 points, and although the defense has only let up a total of 35 points, they still haven’t won a game.
The biggest issue on the offensive end is they don’t have a go to guy that they know will catch the ball when they need a reception, or break out a huge win.
They have had too many dropped passes, and that is very concerning for an offense that already has a ton of issues. To win this game the offense is going to need to score more points, plain and simple.
The defense is also going to need to be good too, but the biggest concern has to be Brian Hoyer and the offense.
I would also look for Kyle Shannahan to try some trick plays early maybe just to try to get something going.
It’s hard not to like Carlos Hyde, but what else do the 49ers have? Goff is still learning and at least Gurley got it going for the Rams. Their defense wasn’t bad but they couldn’t get the key stop at the end. But Hoyer is not Cousins and Donald should be better after another week of improved conditioning. Have to go with the Rams on the road.
Gurley impresses with 2 TDs, but Rams lose -
Los Angeles looked fairly good on offense again — especially when compared to how mediocre they were just last season — but they weren’t able to pull out the win in a 27-20 defeat. The team had 332 total yards, 14 first downs, and converted 5-of-12 third down attempts. Quarterback Jared Goff completed 15-of-25 passes for 224 yards and had a touchdown and interception. Receiver Gerald Everett was the best catcher on the field, completed all three targets for 95 yards, but didn’t have a touchdown.
That touchdown reception was actually grabbed by running back Todd Gurley, who had the second-most reception yards with 48 on three catches. He was the only significant runner in the game, getting 88 yards and an additional TD on 16 carries. He performed very well considering he rarely had these types of games last season. What plagued the Rams was ultimately giving the ball up two times, getting penalized 7 times for 75 yards, and the Redskins chewing the clock.
49ers defense looks good, but offense remains in shambles -
Seattle nearly became another team that suffered two home defeats to start the season without a touchdown (Cincinnati just completed that feat), but Russell Wilson escaped from another potential sack and was able to hit Paul Richardson with a touchdown at the end of the game. They missed the extra point, but they were able to hold on to the 12-9 defensive battle. Both the Seahawks and 49ers seem to always clash in these low-scoring defensive battles, and Pete Carroll’s squad always ends up being the benefactor as they’ve now won eight straight against them.
This contest was one of the closer affairs, but it shows how much the Niners still need to improve offensively. They recorded just 11 first downs, went 2-for-12 on third down attempts, and recorded 248 total yards. Brian Hoyer was awful, completing just 15-of-27 passes for 99 yards and throwing a pick. Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin each had three catches for 26 yards, and they missed five targets between them. Running back Carlos Hyde was the lone offensive savior, carrying the ball 15 times for 124 total yards but was prevented from entering the endzone. Robbie Gould hit all three field goals, the longest being 40 yards.
