I participate in Boy Scouts of America. It is resembled BSA for short. In Boy Scouts we do a lot of things that help our community. BSA can benefit a student by teaching them survival skills, leadership skills, and if the student achieves eagle scout then he can use it to apply for college. Boy Scouts is important to me because of the reasons listed before, plus it being fun at the same time.
Boy Scouts lets you practice survival skills. There are camp outs monthly, and you learn many things. Some examples are how to cook, how to pitch a tent, etc. In addition, there are many merit badges that can teach you things such as the swimming merit badge, environmental science, fingerprinting, and many more!
Leadership takes a key role in BSA. A regular troop is divided into patrols. The amount of patrols depend on how many scouts there are in the troop. Then come the roles. There are many roles, and they have different roles. The SPL, Senior Patrol Leader is the highest. They are in control of every patrol. Next, there are Patrol Leaders for every patrol. They are in charge of their patrol. There are many other roles.
Last but not least, you can get a boost on your college application if you are an Eagle scout. Becoming an Eagle scout is hard work; you have to go through every rank. The ranks are Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First class, Star, Life, and finally eagle. There are many requirements within each rank, so becoming an Eagle Scout is honorable.
In conclusion, Boy Scouts have many benefits. Boy Scouts is fun, beneficial, and educational all at the same time. BSA helps me learn more about how life skills, and I do a lot of community service for it. The reasons listed above are all why BSA is important to me. This is my hobby out of school.
