Penganiayaan emosional merupakan dasar dari berbagai tindakan kekerasan. Meskipun tak secara fisik, kekerasan dalam bentuk ini bisa berakibat negatif pada nilai diri seseorang atau yang lebih fatal lagi. Sasarannya kebanyakan para anak didik(siswa) yang pelakunya bisa saja kawan atau master.
Adapun bentuk penganiayaan emosional:
- Rejecting adalah tindakan merendahkan harga diri atau keinginan seorang anak.
contohnya: mengatakan hal hal negatif seperti mencela/mengolok atau bercanda menggunakan kata kata yang bermaksud merendahkan.
- Ignoring adalah perilaku yang mengabaikan suatu interaksi ataupun respon dari seseorang.
contohnya: mengabaikan pendapat seseorang saat diskusi.
- Isolating merupakan tindakan menjauhkan seseorang dari lingkup keluarga/pergaulan
contohnya: tak mengijinkan seorang anak untuk bermain/bergaul dengan temannya atau untuk mengikuti kegiatan akademi, menghukum karena mengikuti kegiatan organisasi atau aktifitas dalam akademi.
- Corrupting, mengajak seseorang untuk melanggar/melakukan hal diluar norma yang berlaku.
contohnya: mengajak membolos saat ada kegiatan pembelajaran, memberi penghargaan karena telah melakukan suatu pelanggaran.
- Terrorizing merupakan perilaku kekerasan dengan cara mengintimidasi/mengancam secara terus menerus.
contohnya: mengancam akan menghancurkan/merampas sesuatu yang berharga.
