➢ I have been also responsible for Project planning , project control and execution and project reporting - Defining project guidelines (defining communication channel, team leaders , Organizing and bringing up the team (which includes hiring people, marshaling resource, setting up MBO's for them, managing work between them and making sure a releasable product is produced ), within the project budget, scoping and timely execution the project.,

➢ Product Conceptualization - How the product can enter the market, how it competes with other products, Key account management for products and its services for Middle east and Europe region.

➢ Mentoring and Coaching the IT / QA teams about the best practices like (Scrum, Bug tracking system, SVN (release or feature branching), testing methodologies etc..)- Training the IT team , releasing documents to Development teams, training manuals, coaching the Maintenance managers in the production line. Reviewing the entire lifecycle of the product, How the product. Educating the IT teams about Importance of QA of Product.

➢ 2nd Important role is BRING OUT NEW INITIATIVES and CONCEPTS to use new technology in the manufacturing domain, create business proposals and give them to clients for the MES solutions, at Cx0 and VP level (Eg: IMDG ,Cloud based MES , Smart Manufacturing, Virtualization, thin clients , Big data, real time analytics, CEP for faster decision making, BRM , Business process, ESB, etc .. ), To integrate our systems I started the initiative for Master Data Management

➢ SDLC /Agile Methodologies - Typically we use MS Project where i create work packages and milestones for every phase within a project. I also use Scrum (agile methodologies) for time-boxed projects. Also at times Kanban especially in the Operations side.

➢ risk management along with Project management (risk assessment and risk planning in project planning phase, then risk resolution and risk monitoring in Project implementation phase.. and finally risk reporting in project reporting )

➢ Verification of Technical Documentation - releasing and verifying technical (SRS, TRS , Design docs.., RFP, RFI's) documents to Development teams, training manuals, coaching the Maintenance managers in the production line.

➢ Providing reports and feedback to management about the project progress., the weekly or bi-weekly releases and milestones reached.

➢ Create a clear communication channel between stakeholders, clients, partners and Engineering Teams.

--------Integration mechanism --------
- Interface centric - using EAI tools
use SOA and ESB together or Manufacturing service bus with MDM

- Data centric approach - using ETL model

- Model centric - Using Business Process Management using Business Rules Modelling
SPC - statistical Process control - infrastructure tool for Production control quality in
Semiconductor industry.

--------------- Risk Management -----------
1. Risk identification
2. Risk analysis
3. Risk mitigation plan
4. Risk mitigation plan implementation
5. Risk tracking

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY

1. Reliable Software - Failure free operation of software for a specified time in a specified environment
3 type of fault - PERMANENT faults - will continue to exist until faulty component is repaired (static code analysis, dynamic code analysis(,System health and monitoring) Tools for static code anaylsis - DEPENDOMETER, JLINT, visual studio code metrics
TRANSIENT faults - only occurs once and cannot be traced back
INTERMITTENT faults- becomes apparent in irregular intervals

IDEAL SOFTWARE – SW DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY

1. Quality is Very important – Time and resources spent on quality early during development of product gives better ROI. Finding bugs early in the dev Cycle that is in requirements and design phase is 100 times less costly than better fixing them later.
2. Careful risk management – Involve users from beginning , consistent focus on well crafted maintainable software
3. Long term priorities – NO quick workarounds, hacks, or half-baked solutions
4. Focus on Clear Goals, Development process and technology
5. Investment in automation
6. Use of modern technology - of what is available at that time which fits best the customers landscape and keeping in mind the skill set of resource in hand

IMPORTANT FOR ME IN SOFTWARE OR PRODUCT -
2. The product should be User Friendly (ie. Simple to use) ,
3. Reusable ,
4. Maintainable ,
5. Flexible – Changes in software should be easy to make
6. Modular
7. Testability – software should be easily testable (e.g: Automated )
8. , Scaleable if that’s one of the Non-functional requirements., Reliability ( MTBF)
9 . Non functional requirements as – Availabiliy of three 9 or four 9’s. eg: 99.99 % availability would mean 52 minutes of downtime per Year.
Careful risk management - Not a complete perfect software can be released in one shot, My philosophy is that we release a working well tested module and then take iterations of that product over a period of time. So develop small incremental releases and iterate.

Transition characteristics of SW

1. Interoperability
2. Reusability
3. Portability

Types of Testing –

1. unit Testing
2. Functional test
3. Integration tests
4. System Tests
5. Acceptance tests

Nature of tests

1. Functional Tests
2. Platform compatibility tests
3. Robustness tests
4. Performance tests
5. Scalability test

IMPORTANT TO ME AS TEAM LEADER
1. Communication – Open clear communication channel
2. I try to Lead by example

3. I let team members be accountable and responsible for their tasks – which means I give them freedom to implement things, BUT its important before they implement their ideas are put on the table and a healthy discussion takes places about those ideas

4. Empathy and Sensitive - It’s a very multi-cultural team – So everyone respects and I try to educate people about different cultures , so that no one un-intentionally hurts anyone’s feelings etc..

5. I try to inculcate creativity in what ever work we do. – I have learnt there very important words for software development ‘KEEP IT SIMPLE”.

6. I always try and tell my team , if you are the customers will you buy you own product ? And most of them know if the quality of work they have put is good enough or not.

Recover ability - MTTR
Reliability - MTBF

--- Current work ---
Managing product based on APMS (Advanced Plugin Management System)
based on XML-RPC
Client – Java based, UI – GWT, XML RPC for remote controlling of

8 STAGES OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

1. Idea Generation
2. Idea Screening
3. Concept development and testing
4. Business analysis – estimate the likely selling price
5. Beta Testing and Market testing – By creating a prototype
6. Technical implementation
7. Commercialization – launching the product
8. Licensing

SOA
1. XML used to define the data
2. SOAP or REST to transfer data
3. WSDL to define the services
4. UDDI to list the available services
REST- representational state transfer
Soap vs Rest - http://greatgandhi.wordpress.com/2010/06/16/soap-vs-rest-%E2%80%93-the-best-webservice/

Everything you do is over HTTP is REST (POST, GET,PUT,DELETE)

The main advantages of REST web services are:
• Lightweight – not a lot of extra xml markup
• Human Readable Results
• Easy to build – no toolkits required

SOAP also has some advantages:
• Easy to consume – sometimes
• Rigid – type checking, adheres to a contract
• Development tools

--- ---------------- QUESTION ------------
- So whats the team structure, How many members are there in the team ?
I understand this is a startup and you are building up a team.. so what lets so whats your first objective for the team?
- So does EON have training programs that makes sure the employees are upto date in terms of technology, business side etc.. (Why and where big data is being used ? , Real time BI , Bleeding edge technologies, how they benefit business ? )
- Career development programs for Employees?
