1. Bahasa Jerman merupakan bahasa pengantar untuk negara bagian Eropa Tengah. Ia juga merupakan bahasa yang luas digunakan di daerah Eropa dan merupakan bahasa pengantar yang sangat penting sampai abad ke-20.

Dalam bahasa Jerman ada tiga huruf tambahan, yaitu umlaut:
- ä yang bisa ditulis ae.
- ö yang bisa ditulis oe.
- ü yang bisa ditulis ue.
Selain itu ada huruf ligatur ß (eszett) yang katanya mau dihapuskan, cara membacanya tebal seperti menyebutkan ss.
3. Bahasa Jerman Hulu merujuk kepada Bahasa Jerman yang telah lama dituturkan dari tahun 500 sampai 1050, yang berarti Bahasa Jerman Hulu merupakan awal mula atau tahap awal dimulainya penuturan menggunakan Bahasa Jerman tersebut.
Teks tertulis tidak muncul sampai pertengahan kedua abad ke-8, sehingga sebelum tahun 750 dianggap sebagai prasejarah Bahasa Jerman (karena adanya enkripsi Elder Futhark pada abad ke-6) dan Bahasa Jerman Hulu Kuno tersebut dimulai pada tahun 750 (karena banyak kata tunggal dan nama ditemukan pada teks latin abad ke-8)
