1&2. Born and brought up in a middle-class family in a rural backdrop, quality health care is always a distant reality. Having seen my grand parents and neighbors suffering due to lack to health care facilities have developed my interest in becoming a health care provider from early years of my schooling. This interest has further increased by the demise of my grand father because of ill health. Seeing my passion to become a health care provider my parents have got me an admission in a boarding school in far away place. From then onwards have started working towards my goal and science have remained my favorite subject. Have attended many science fairs and volunteered in community health camps organized by the regional health center.
3. Getting an admission into medical school is highly competitive because of limited admissions. Because of my grit to get into med school, have undergone an additional year of preparation to get an admission into one of the best medical schools in my state. I can still remember that was the most satisfying and memorable moment as it took me a step closer to my ambition in life.
4. Once in med school, I have dedicated myself to achieving my goal to become a health care provider. Attending the clinics and talking to the patients about their problems have helped me to communicate effectively and have also kept me motivated. Following the patients from the time of admission through gradual recovery and discharge have helped me in gaining a lot of clinical experience and taught me in understanding the disease processes. My dedication and hard work helped in attaining first class in med school examinations.
5. Seminars and classes from the visiting professors from America have risen my curiosity to explore the American health care system. Thus have attended Temple University hospital, Philadelphia as a visiting student for a clerkship for two months. I was impressed by the health care standards, electronic health records and by the practice of research and evidence based medicine. This experience has inspired me to pursue my further learning process in United states.
6. Once I have graduated from med school, have started practicing as a physician assistant and duty medical officer to gain clinical experience and to support my family financially. This clinical experience has helped in clearing the USMLE exams and have given me satisfaction in serving the community as a health care provider.
Attending clerkships and observerships have helped me in gaining acquaintance with electronic health records and helped me in communicating with patients and have taught me the importance of team work in health care.
As an ambitious and motivated individual, I am looking forward to pursuing my further career in health care and to become a promising health care provider. In the future, I want to see my self as a physician serving for the betterment of the health of the community as a whole.
