sudo blkid
2. Add an entry to /etc/crypttab:
hddencrypted UUID=<partition-uuid> none luks
2. Update the initial ramdisk:
sudo update-initramfs -u -k all
3. Test (should ask for a passphrase and then output that the disk has been unlocked):
sudo cryptdisks_start hddencrypted
4. Check if hddencrypted was mapped (should output 'hddencrypted' among others):
ls /dev/mapper/
5. Create a mount point:
sudo mkdir /mnt/hdd
6. Display volume groups and find the one with the old encrypted disk:
sudo vgdisplay
7. If it has the same name as the one with the new disk, rename the volume group:
sudo vgrename -v <volume-group-uuid> <new-vg-name>
8. Activate the volume groups:
sudo vgchange -ay
9. Find 'LV Path' of the old encrypted partition (e.g., /dev/new-vg-name/root):
sudo lvdisplay /dev/new-vg-name
10. Add an entry to /etc/fstab:
/dev/new-vg-name/root /mnt/hdd ext4 defaults 0 2
11. Validate fstab without reboot:
sudo mount -a
