Name: Mournclaw
Nature: Manifested Hatred / Semi-Sentient Aberration
Origin: Emotional mutation of Noctey, the last Lightborn

Overview
Mournclaw is the physical embodiment of hatred born from Noctey, the final Lightborn—an ancient being capable of living up to ten thousand years. Where most Lightborn who succumb to irritation briefly transform into mindless beasts, Noctey’s hatred did not fade. It festered, evolved, and ultimately detached itself, mutating into Mournclaw. Unlike typical manifestations, Mournclaw retained awareness, purpose, and a disturbing sense of self, making him far more dangerous than a simple emotional echo.

Towering at roughly twice the height of a human, Mournclaw moves with the weight and inevitability of something that was never meant to exist independently.

Appearance
Mournclaw takes the form of a massive panther-like creature composed of black, viscous goop that behaves as both liquid and solid. Despite lacking any true organs, his body holds shape through an unknown metaphysical cohesion. His fur is predominantly dark gray, with lighter gray coloration along the neck fluff, chest, underbelly, upper legs, feet, and inner ear fur. His tail is long, thick, and unusually fluffy, contrasting with the otherwise ominous silhouette.

His lower arms are overtaken by hardened black goop that forms elongated, jagged claws on each finger. His paw pads and talons are pitch black. His ears are sharply pointed and angled backward, suggesting constant vigilance, while the inner ear fluff remains dense and soft, a subtle remnant of his origin.

Mournclaw’s face is entirely obscured by a flat, circular censor-like disk, giving him an unnerving lack of expression. No eyes, mouth, or features are visible—only presence.

From his back protrudes a cluster of jagged black crystals, embedded deep within his form. These crystals are one of the few stable structures within his body and serve as both a power anchor and a critical vulnerability.

Emerging from his back are four black tendrils, each ending in a rhombus-shaped tip. These tendrils are semi-sentient, possessing individual awareness, yet they obey Mournclaw flawlessly. Each time Mournclaw devours a human, a new tendril grows—though he despises the taste of humans and consumes them only when necessary.

Two pairs of horns crown his head. The first pair consists of short, angular black horns that rise upward in a broken, jagged pattern, designed primarily for piercing. The second pair is larger and heavily curled, also black, built for devastating ramming attacks.

Behavior and Personality
Mournclaw is not mindless. He is driven by hatred, but it is a focused, deliberate hatred rather than blind rage. He stalks rather than charges, observes rather than reacts, and attacks with intent. His actions suggest he understands fear, pain, and inevitability—concepts he uses as weapons.

Despite being born of hatred, Mournclaw shows moments of hesitation when confronted with behavior that contradicts his purpose. These moments are rare, fleeting, and deeply unsettling.

He has no need to feed for survival, and human consumption serves only to increase his tendrils, something he neither enjoys nor seeks.

Abilities
Mournclaw’s body can reform after blunt or slicing damage due to its goop-based nature. He relies on overwhelming physical strength, speed, and psychological intimidation. His tendrils are used to whip, restrain, and seize targets, not to pierce, reinforcing his preference for control over efficiency.

The black crystals on his back appear to stabilize his form and possibly anchor his consciousness outside of Noctey.

Weaknesses

Physical Weaknesses:
If the black crystals on Mournclaw’s back are struck with sufficient force, he becomes stunned, temporarily destabilized and unable to pursue, granting a narrow window for escape.
Exposure to intense light temporarily freezes Mournclaw in place. While not damaging, light disrupts his cohesion, forcing him to exert effort to break free.

Emotional Weaknesses:
Approaching Mournclaw without fear causes visible hesitation. Fear defines his presence; its absence confuses him, provoking concern rather than aggression.
Acts of self-destruction, such as suicidal intent, cause Mournclaw to halt entirely. Instead of attacking, he spares the individual, unable—or unwilling—to claim someone already surrendering themselves.
